The research assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Fergal McCaffery on the Medical Device Mobile Framework project. The assistant will work closely with the Senior Postdoctoral Researcher involved in this project, and will work as part of a world-class research team within the Regulated Software Research Centre based in Dundalk Institute of Technology. The post will mainly be based in Limerick, and it will initially be filled on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 24 months with a view to extending.

This research will focus on the development and implementation of a mobile app development and testing framework for physiotherapy monitoring and analysis. The framework will facilitate integration with different 3rd party applications and customer bases and will include best practice software development and testing approaches including security penetration testing techniques.

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following. The research assistant will be involved in development and testing activities in industry setting when required. The assistant will also be responsible for the development of a mobile app development framework for physiotherapy monitoring and analysis, which includes the testing of such applications including security penetration testing. The assistant will ensure that the mobile apps developed using the framework fulfills the regulatory requirements for a medical device, and that it includes best practice software development and testing approaches including security penetration testing techniques

Candidates should have experience of mobile development (including iOS and Web app development) and have experience in developing mobile applications that integrate with different 3rd party applications. Candidates should also have experience of testing such applications including security penetration testing. Candidates should ideally provide a sample of their earlier work as part of the selection process.
